Missionary Humor

Well friends, it’s school break again – and with it all the typical charms: croquet matches in the backyard, Islam research on the desk, homemade bread in the oven, pictures in their frames (at last), and Amanda sick in the bed (alas!).  But last night was something different.  It was the biennial talent night, know (for reasons unbeknownst to me) as “The Other Concert.”

Quite ready to take a break from anything requiring energy, Amanda and I opted out of participating this year.  Our friends, however, did not – and we do have some talented friends. (I should also mention here that one of the talents last night involved our Korean dentist singing a John Denver song opera-style…)

So without further ado, I present to you “The Missionary Mom Rap” featuring Amanda’s sister and a great deal of other hooligans.  Don’t fret if this leaves you completely befuddled; the bits that make the most sense to us will probably make the least sense to you.

Enjoy:

  1. Hilarious! I especially enjoyed the intestinal worm kids and the shout out to the Essential Oils crowd.

  2. Loved this! I can imagine the fun everyone had writing and making the video. I am sending it to my daughter in Thailand.

  3. From another Missionary Mom in Madagascar, I felt like I know you all! ha! Awesome job ladies. Praying for each of you today wherever you are serving.

  4. Thanks for making this video!! I could totally relate to almost everything mentioned. It made me smile, laugh, and almost a little teary. I loved raising my kids on the mission field. Sometimes, I wish I could have those days back. Enjoy every minute, cause, before you know it they are gone. Although, I am enjoying doing missions with my husband now. :-) May God continue to bless you, your families, and your ministries.
