Exactly eight years ago today – January 23, 2011 – I (Amanda) left Waxhaw, North Carolina to be a missionary teacher in Papua New Guinea. After years of praying and thinking about joining missions, finally everything had come together.
As I was thinking through this post I started reading over some of my old blogs (back then, I had a different blog). It was fun to be reminded of what I was feeling and thinking at the time.
In June of 2010, I “resigned” from full time teaching and took on a few nanny positions, allowing myself to focus more fully on raising support. There were many ups and downs, many doubts and setbacks, but also some very sweet moments!
Here are links to a few of my favorite posts I wrote during that time:
– One about trusting God when everything seemed to be at a stand still.
– One about a sweet kindergartener with a giving heart.
In the next few posts, I’ll share more of my memories from those first months of transition to my new life.
